Remarks / Description: -Permanently occupied- Logistic operations: Maintenance to the installations of the station; dismantle and removal of the old sewage treatment system, the incinerator and the store house; placement of a new oil tank; fixing and adjusting the equipments in an eco-environmental laboratory and the fixing of x-band satellite receiver. Science programs: Resource investigation and function assessment of the species of low-temperature micro-organisms and the gene; upgrade and maintenance of the GPS tracing station and the international GPS campaign in the Great Wall station; the eco-environmental monitoring study on the Files peninsula; field deployment and operation of polar near shore marine environmental monitoring system; the nutrients dynamical study in King George Island near shore area of the Antarctica;Special biomarkers and their monomers δ13C、δ D sedimentation record—ENSO, the impact to the phytoplankton changes and carbon cycling in the west Antarctic;primary study of the Antarctic new pops distant migration and sources: lichens’ community survey and collection of samples in the areas of the Great Wall station and the Zhongshan station for testing heavy metal elements; research on Holocene eco-environmental evolution and the contrast study in the ice free area of the Great Wall station; meteorological routine observations.

Remarks: “Xuelong” is B1 ice-breaker with displacement 21025 tons, 167 meters long, 22.6m wide, the maximum navigation ability for 20,000 miles. “Xuelong” has been upgraded for 3 times since 1993. the present vessel has the atmosphere, hydrology, biological, computer data processing center, meteorological forecast center and Marine physical, chemical, biological, geology, meteorological and clean and so on a series of scientific research laboratories, with a total area of 500 square meters. Equipped with the MK-3 / WOCE CTD and water sampler; 75KHZ and ADCP fish explorer; survey equipment such as was A frame, CTD winch; 3000 meters hydrological winch and two 6000 meters geological winches, can undertake multi-disciplinary comprehensive Marine investigation. Her main task for 2009/2010 is to transport personnel, materials and fuels and provide a platform for ocean investigation.
