Purpose: • Determine the foraging patterns of reproductive adults during the breeding stage. • Determine the percentage of use of marine areas as feeding areas. • Examine individual variation in foraging behavior. • Evaluate feeding areas around the colony.
Summary of activities: GPS installation (<15 g) to 30-40 reproductive adults of South polar skua in a small group of back feathers adhered with waterproof tape. Procedure will take less than 15 minutes. Daily visits to the colony throughout the study period to monitor instrumented birds.
